NYC Waterfront Government: The Department of Parks & Recreation runs several waterfront facilities. Many new waterfront parks are not operated by the Parks
Department: The City has 2 dockmasters, vestiges of the once large department Ports & Trade. The Dockmasters are within the Department of Small Business Services. They are charged with inspecting the city's some 500+ miles of waterfront and do not have a boat. City Council Waterfronts Committee: 3/08 The city council approved legislation (Intro 867-A) to resurrect the Waterfront Advisory Board that has been defunct since the Dinkins era by reauthorizing the formation of the board as a 21-member entity.
